From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A charter is the grant of authority or rights, stating that the granter formally recognizes the prerogative of the recipient to exercise the rights specified. It is implicit that the granter retains superiority (or sovereignty), and that the recipient admits a limited (or inferior) status within the relationship, and it is within that sense that charters were historically granted, and that sense is retained in modern usage of the term. Also, charter can simply be a document giving royal permission to start a colony. The word entered the English language from the Old French charte (ultimately from the Latin word for "paper"), but the concept is universal and transcends language. It has come to be synonymous with the document that lays out the granting of rights or privileges. Colloquial usagesThe term is used for a special case (or as an exception) to an institutional charter. A charter school, for example, is one that has different rules, regulations, and statutes than a state school. Charter is sometimes used as a synonym for 'rent' or 'lease', as in the 'charter' of a bus or boat by an organization, intended for a similar group destination. A charter member of an organization is an original member; that is, one who became a member when the organization received its charter. From Wikipedia under the

Also, what kind of students tend to go to charter school rather than public schools? Any information is helpful, but I am specifically interested in the New Orleans area. Thanks for any input! My parents are debating on whether to enroll me in a regular public high school or a local charter school. The only reason I am fighting them is that I would be away from my friends. My parents think I am very bright and talented in music, and they believe that going to a charter school would somehow prepare me for college "better." Is that true? I have always dreamed of going to Stanford my entire life and I would do anything to get accepted. Please help? Q. I am getting Charter Wireless Internet, and I would really like to get my ps3 online. Also, Is the Charter Wireless Modem any good or should I buy a different one. Thanks. Asked by B-rad - Thu Jan 21 21:09:27 2010 - - 0 Answers - 0 Comments A. The PS3 works well with a wireless Internet connection. you can also plug it in to an Ethernet router in the back. True gamers will claim that a hard line is preferable if you are going to play on-line. I have had my PS3 for years wirelessly connected to a Linksys modem on a Bellsouth internet connection. It's great, but the only thing you need to check is what "NAT Type" you will get with Charter. I have a NAT Type 3 which doesn't let me join friends' games in certain videogames because of a developer issue. NAT Type 2 is the best wireless NAT Type. NAT Type 1 is the best you can have, it is when you are connected via Ethernet. Overall, you should be fine connecting your PS3 wirelessly to your Charter Modem.
