In camping, a ground pad, sleeping pad, sleeping mat or roll mat is a simple device often used in conjunction with a sleeping bag. Its purpose is to provide padding and thermal insulation. I HAD to use a heating pad for the first two months of my pregnancy because I had such horrible back pain that I couldn't even get out of bed without help. Do not turn it up on high and don't fall asleep on it. I would sit in a chair before bed or during the day with the pad against my back set on medium or low just to get a little relief from the pain. But you really shouldn't be falling asleep on the heating pad. I used one a lot and my 10 month old daughter is perfect! My doctor never advised against using one. Q. Has anyone purchased one of these sleeping pads that alarm if there is no movement for a given amount of time or do you know of someone who has? If so, was it worth it? That's great!! My first son had sleep apnea, so with this one due next month, I think I will need some kind of monitor, or I will never sleep!
