A Government is the body within a community, political entity or organization which has the authority to make and enforce rules, laws and regulations.. Typically, the term "government" refers to a civil government or sovereign state which can be either local, national, or international. However, commercial, academic, religious, or other formal organizations are also governed by internal bodies. Such bodies may be called boards of directors, managers, or governors or they may be known as the administration (as in schools) or councils of elders (as in churches). The size of governments can vary by region or purpose. Growth of an organization advances the complexity of its government, therefore small towns or small-to-medium privately-operated enterprises will have fewer officials than typically larger organizations such as multinational corporations which tend to have multiple interlocking, hierarchical layers of administration and governance. As complexity increases and the nature of governance becomes more complicated, so does the need for formal policies and procedures. From Wikipedia under the

How does federalism keep government closer to the people? Is state government necessarily more responsive to the people than the federal government? Asked by tgray10000 - Wed Oct 31 10:43:09 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Not always. In fact, having the system of federalism allowed civil rights activists to file federal lawsuits (such as brown versus board of education) because they knew that filing state lawsuits would never get them anywhere. On the other hand, state government has a hand in much of the governance that touches individuals on an every day basis such as policing, local government, roads etc. Answered by manx l - Wed Oct 31 14:19:14 2007 How much money should the government spend in government expenditures to eliminate this gap? Q. Calculate the GDP gap if in an economy the unemployment rate is 9.5%, MPC = .9, and the Full employment GDP = $10,800. Calculate the regular expenditure multiplier and the net tax multiplier. How much money should the government spend in government expenditures to eliminate this gap? Asked by tiPtRaN - Thu Jan 17 02:17:16 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. The regular expenditure multiplier (assuming a closed economy and lump sum taxes) is: 1/(1-MPC) ==> 10 The tax multiplier (again assuming a closed economy and lump sum taxes): -MPC/(1-MPC) ==> -.9/.1 = -9 As for the gap, according to Okun's law, unemployment will be 1% point above the natural rate for every 3% that output is below potential output. I can't tell from the question what the to assume for the unemployment rate at full employment. To keep things simple I'll use the Beveridge estimate of 3% structural unemployment. If you're using the NAIRU, you would choose 0%. Therefore, 9.5% unemployment is 6.5% above the potential rate. This imples a 19.5% gap between full employment GDP and actual GDP. The gap is therefore .195 x… [cont.] Answered by Anon_204 - Sun Jan 20 02:37:34 2008 How does the government monitor and check for unemployment check fraud?
Q. How does the government make sure you're not collecting an unemployment check from the government, and at the same time working on a job? I know they send out forms you have to fill out stating whether you're working or not, but obviously they would need another method to verify you're telling the truth. Also they run the unemployment receiver's Social Security Number through Social Security So if you are working then Social Security payments are being made and that is how they discover double dipping these audits of state programs are randomly done by each agency.
