Advantages and Disadvantages of having tires inflated higher?
Q. My car recommends 32 psi and the tires say 44psi max. I am a very spirited driver. Can someone share the advantages and disadvatages of having the tires inflated higher than 32 psi. And what do you reccommend for a very fast driver like myself?

A. I recommend the manufacturers spec plus three pounds. The advantage of the manufacturers spec is smooth ride. Adding 3-5 pounds will harshen up the ride but increase mileage. Don't go above this as it will reduce your traction and as a fast driver you could lose control of the car.

Whats wrong with a car tire making a grinding noise, even though its fully inflated?
Q. My front passenger side car tire making a grinding type noise even though it is not flat. The noise comes off and on with no discernable pattern. It sounds almost like a flat with the rim grinding along the ground but the tire is inflated. FYI The tire is probably 2 years old with 50k miles or so.

Do you keep your tires on your car inflated to the proper levels?
Q. I'm sure everyone recalls Obama's call to inflate your tires properly to lower our dependence on foreign oil. So are you monitoring your tire pressure? Just to add, it is a good thing to do. Apparently approximately 50 people a year die from blow outs from underinflated tires.

A. 1 It makes tires last longer 2. It saves up to 10% gas mileage 3. It decreases stop time 4. It makes you actually inspect your tires more 5. It makes you more aware that the tires are the only thing between you and the road. 6. It is easy to do 7. It takes less than 10 minutes 8. It is responsible. 9. It reduces car accidents 10. It stops many tires from blowing out due to under pressure and overpressure by making the tire wear evenly. Thank you for that question. That is something I always tell people and they look at me like I am stupid. 32 is what my inflation mark is. I check it once a week every Thursday.
