A party is a gathering of people who have been invited by a host for the purposes of socializing, conversation, or recreation. A party will typically feature food and beverages, and often music and dancing as well.

Some parties are held in honor of a specific person, day, or event (e.g., a birthday party, a Super Bowl party, or a St. Patrick’s Day party). Parties of this kind are often called celebrations.

A party is not necessarily a private occasion. Public parties are sometimes held in pubs and bars, and people attending such parties may be charged an admission fee by the host.

A. The Republican Party didn't fall after the War of 1812 it simply changed its name in the days of Jackson to the Democratic Party. The Federalist Party fell by 1820 due to: 1. Their refusal to support the War of 1812 2. Their involvement in the Hartford Convention 3. Their support of the Alien and Sedition Acts of Adams day 4. The death of their leader Alexander Hamilton in his infamous duel with Aaron Burr in July of 1804 5. The adoption of several Federalist policies by Jefferson and the Republican Party, thus stealing the thunder of the Federalists 6. The shifting of the political "center" of the nation to the west and out of Federalist-controlled New England
